Full Year of JLI

We are proud to present to you this year's JLI courses, and we invite you to join us for four courses that will inspire, educate, and fascinate you.

This year, we'll get an in-depth look at Judaism's advice for finding greater meaning in life. We'll catch glimpses of our ancestors' lives as we trace how our sages applied the Torah's practices and ethics to an ever-changing world across history. We'll explore Judaism's universal message for all people, and how it can help us build better lives and societies. And we'll trace how Jewish ethics and values shaped America, and what Judaism can teach us about forging a bright future for all Americans.

All lessons take place in the evenings, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. See course dates above each course blurb below.

FALL 5786 - 6 LESSONS | Nov. 3 - Dec. 8 | Mondays

The Kabbalah of Meaning

Jewish wisdom for finding the purpose that connects all parts of life

Life is busy. What connects it all? Join this six-session course to discover Judaism's timeless approach to meaning in life. You'll hear answers to some of life's most fundamental questions: What is meaning? Where does it come from? And if we have it all, why do we seek more?

You'll gain tools to see the meaning in the routines, relationships, and rhythms of time that shape your life. Discover the purpose in what you've achieved and in what lies ahead.

This course will satisfy the continuing education requirements of physicians, other healthcare professionals, psychologists, social workers, LMFTs, and LMHC/LPCs in most states.

Go to myjli.com/continuingeducation for a complete accreditation statement.

WINTER 5786 - 6 LESSONS | Jan. 22 - Feb. 26 | Thursdays

Captivating Cases in Rabbinic Responsa

Listen in on the surprising, practical questions your ancestors asked rabbis across Jewish history.

Listen in on the questions your ancestors asked across history as they paid taxes, got married, fled war, and celebrated Passover in secret.

What do their questions reveal about how they lived? What do these sages' answers reveal about the process of applying Jewish law?

Join this six-session course to explore the fascinating world of rabbinic responsa. You'll see the tools Jewish tradition offers for living by timeless values in a world that never stands still; and come face-to-face with raw Jewish history.

This course will satisfy the continuing education (CLE) requirements of  attorneys and other legal professionals.

SPRING 5786 - 4 LESSONS | April 30 - May 20 | Thursdays

For All Humankind

SUMMER 5786 - 4 LESSONS | June 8 - 28 | Mondays

Sinai and Civics

The Jewish ethics that shaped America's founding

In time for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, this four-session course reflects on the Jewish ethics, ideas, and values that inspired and influenced America's founders, and still shape our government and society today.

Was it always self-evident that all people are "created equal"? What is the "pursuit of happiness"? What inspired America's system of checks and balances? And looking ahead, what steps can we take to build a just and united future?

This course will satisfy the continuing education (CLE) requirements of  attorneys and other legal professionals.

Join us for four unforgettable courses to discover the beauty and wisdom of our Jewish tradition.
